Sony invests in Epic Games, now valued at $28.7 billion

Epic Games announced on Tuesday (13) that it has completed a round of investments worth $1 billion. This made the company valued at $28.7 billion.

Among the main investors at the time is Sony Group Corporation , which injected US$ 200 million into the company.

According to Epic, the contribution of the partnership is strategic, as the companies already have a long-standing relationship, and reinforces the “shared mission of advancing the state of the art in socially connected technology, entertainment and online services”, says the company, in an official note.

The amount raised by Epic in the round will be applied to its business growth plan.

The Epic Games Store also presented interesting returns for the brand. In 2020, in-store PC customers shelled out more than $700 million, with 37% of that amount for games from third-party developers.
