Clues indicate that Windows 11 will be released in late October

Microsoft officially announced Windows 11 on June 24, 2021 , but did not confirm exactly from which day the updates begin to compatible devices. All that’s known so far is that the company is aiming for the transition to begin at the end of this year, but some elements on the screens publicized as operating system marketing could provide the hidden answer.

According to The Verge website , there are at least two references to a date in October 2021 in platform images. One of them is in a screenshot of the dark version of Windows 11: in the far right is a notification of a message from Microsoft Teams to Panos Panay, head of the Windows division, sent by Stevie Bathiche, an engineer in the Surface Devices sector .

The message reads “Good luck today, Panos! I’m excited to bring it up to volume 11…can’t wait for October!” Sources heard by the original report also confirmed that the platform’s planning is to start sending it to users four months from now.

The other element that cites the month of October is a screen that shows the new desktop look in Windows 11, with the search icon in the Taskbar and some of the customizable widgets.

The date chosen for the screen is October 20, 2021, at 11 hours and 11 minutes. There is a screenshot with references to October 6th, but it seems to be an exception.

Did it leak?

Another quote a month, without necessarily citing a day, is on Walmart’s sales page for a Lenovo notebook that will be compatible with Windows 11.

The technical specification text carries the notice that the upgrade to the new operating system will be free “as of October 2021, when available”. Below are references to the download release “late year and continuing through 2022”, with an address from Microsoft itself — already removed from the air — with the URL containing the text “OCT21”.
