Redmi, a subsidiary of Xiaomi that focuses on low-cost devices , announced this Tuesday (13) on the Chinese social network Weibo that it will launch its first gamer smartphone this month.
A picture posted on the company profile says that a “new player” will join the company “team” soon, designed for players, by players. It also announces that the device will be the “official smartphone” for the Call of Duty Mobile game in China and ends with the phrase “see you at the end of the month on Redmi’s gamer smartphones”.
There are no technical specifications for the device. But given the positioning of the brand, which is known for offering excellent “value for money”, you can expect something more modest than the “monsters” from ASUS and Lenovo . Loaded with tens of gigabytes of RAM, ultra-high-resolution screens and the fastest processors on the market, they end up at a price point out of reach for most of the public.
According to the GizChina website, Redmi’s smartphone gamer would be codenamed Ares and would be based on the SoC (System on a Chip) MediaTek Dimensity 1,200, the most powerful among MediaTek chips, which in addition to supporting 5G networks has a feature called “ HyperEngine ” that implements a number of optimizations for games.

Produced in a 6 nanometer process, the chip has eight cores, one “ultra” running at up to 3 GHz, three “super” running at up to 2.6 GHz and four “efficient” cores at 2 GHz. in the ARM Cortex-A55 architecture, while the ultra and super cores would be ARM Cortex-A78.
