On the morning of Tuesday (13) the date of the next Apple event, which had still been officially announced by the company , “leaked” from an unusual source: Siri .
According to 9to5Mac, when asked “When is the Apple Event?” (“When is the Apple event?”) the virtual assistant would sometimes respond with: “The special event will be on Tuesday, April 20, at Apple Park in Cupertino, CA. You can get all the details at Apple.com”.
It is not the first time that the assistant has “taken her tongue in her teeth”. In 2016 she delivered the date of WWDC16, held on June 17 of that year, when asked “When is the WWDC ?”.
Apple confirms event
Hours later, Apple began sending the press an official invitation. The event will have the theme “Spring Loaded”, and will take place virtually at 2 pm (GMT) on Tuesday (20), with live broadcast on the Apple website.
The event’s name leaves room for various interpretations. It may indicate that Apple starts the spring (spring) loaded (loaded) of news, but it could also indicate a technological “leap” in some area, as the expression also indicates something “spring-driven”.
Apple is expected to announce new iPads during the event, including a new iPad Pro with A14x processor and Thunderbolt port , as well as a model with a Mini-LED display. There are also rumors pointing to new iMacs with the M1 processor and AirTags, Apple’s electronic tags.

New iPads
A leak last Thursday (8) offered a preview of upcoming Apple tablets. The information was shared via Twitter by Sonny Dickson (@SonnyDickson), Apple’s news blogger. The two photos show possible versions of the upcoming 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro and iPad mini 6.
Ming Chi-Kuo, an expert market analyst at Apple, believes the company will launch a revamped iPad mini with up to 9-inch mini-LED screen. Mark Gurman, another Apple product specialist at Bloomberg portal, also reinforces this idea.
Japanese portal Mac Otakara agrees with both. The publication says the next iPad mini will feature an 8.4-inch display and look similar to the iPad Air 3.
However, it remains unclear whether the enlarged screen will mean a larger iPad mini or whether the size will only be maintained with a reduction in the edges around the screen.
The new iPad Pro, according to Gurman, will have an A14X processor with the same performance as the powerful M1 chip, in addition to improved cameras. A mini-LED screen should also be included in at least the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. About the cameras, the new tablets seem to keep the dual lens system with the LiDAR sensor.
