Google has announced that it will discontinue the Google Play Films and TV app (app) on some smart TVs to distribute its offering of movies and shows through YouTube .
As of June 15, 2021, LG , Roku , Samsung and Vizio devices will have Youtube as the new hub for movies and shows. As a result, the Google Play Movies & TV app will no longer be available.
The company said, however, that all previous purchases will be accessible on YouTube, in addition to Google Play credits that can be used for new purchases.
To access past purchases, log into the YouTube app with your Google Play Movies & TV account, go to the “Library” tab and click on “Your Movies & Shows”. You will see that the entire catalog you have already purchased remains there!
But pay attention to those who used “family sharing” on smart TVs. Google Play Family “Library” purchases may continue to be viewed, but titles purchased on YouTube are not eligible for sharing practice.

About Google Play Movies & TV
The Google Play Movies service is an on-demand content platform for those who want to buy or rent movies and watch them via the app. The working mechanics are very similar to those already consolidated by the main video streaming platforms with non-monthly subscriptions, such as Youtube and Apple TV . Thus, it is possible to consume content online or download it to an offline audience.
The main difference, however, is that there is no free content. That is, whatever you choose, it will need to be paid. You can rent a movie for a fixed period or buy it and have it available indefinitely in your library.
