Apple: leak shows new iPad mini 6 and iPad Pro without ‘Smart Connector’

Some indications already pointed that Apple could release revamped versions of the iPad mini and iPad Pro by June of this year. Now, a new leak released this Thursday (8), on Twitter, offers a preview of the Cupertino company’s upcoming tablets.

Who shared the news on the social network was Sonny Dickson ( @SonnyDickson ), Apple’s news blogger. The two photos show possible versions of the upcoming 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro and iPad mini 6.

The look of the latter, as shown in the image below, is virtually identical to previous models , including the ‘Home’ button and thicker edges on the display.

iPad mini with larger screen

Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, China, believes the company should launch a revamped iPad mini with up to 9-inch mini-LED screen. Mark Gurman, another Apple product specialist at Bloomberg portal, also reinforces this idea.

Japanese portal Mac Otakara agrees with both. The publication says the next iPad mini will feature an 8.4-inch display and look similar to the iPad Air 3. However, it remains unclear whether the enlarged screen will mean a bigger iPad mini or just a reduction in the edges of the device.

more powerful iPad Pro

The new iPad Pro, according to Gurman, will have an A14X processor with the same performance as the powerful M1 chip in addition to improved cameras. A mini-LED screen should also be included in at least the 12.9-inch iPad Pro‌.

About the cameras, the new tablets seem to keep the dual lens system with the LiDAR sensor. However, the module on the 12.9-inch tablet appears to protrude less than on the 11-inch.

In the image above, a highlight is the lack of the ‘Smart Connector’, a feature that is mysteriously not present at the bottom of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Dickson confirmed that the connector does not appear in the gadget’s test model. For now, it’s hard to know whether the omission was intentional or just an Apple mistake.

Tim Cook’s company would also be testing the iPad Pro with Thunderbolt input, which would make the tablet for professional use compatible with external monitors, hard drives and peripherals, but it is unclear whether or not the feature will be included in the devices that will be released this year. year. Remember that current models come with standard USB-C ports.

Finally, the new iPads should be presented to the public in April. What is not known is whether the releases will be via press release or at an online event.
